“Well, here we are, the Usher Cup, back with Serving Our People and what an awesome organisation, last year there were I believe seven hundred volunteers and this year it’s twenty-one hundred, so they have tripled in size, and they are just doing a wonderful job in the community.”

Committed to serving all, across the communities they work in, SOP Founder and President Yas Daniel Matbouly is currently finalising a number of key projects aimed at further assisting those struggling and living rough.

“We have a homeless lunch here every year for three hundred and fifty people during Christmas, we also have the first free supermarket which is launching on the 22nd of December and that supermarket needs to be continually filled up with non-perishable items ensuring we can continue to service the community because the need has increased immensely.”

Coinciding with the launch of the Supermarket, a coffee shop with a real difference, in the heart of mermaid beach.

“Here we are guys, this is going to be the first ever coffee shop that donates one hundred percent of their profits, to a charity.  The work SOP carry out on a daily basis is so diverse and they absolutely are here to assist anyone in need, at any time, it really is an incredible organisation making a genuine and positive impact not only here on the Gold Coast, but around the country.”

Wayne urging Gold Coasters and those attending the 2023 Usher Cup surf contest to get behind the 10ForTen charity drive and show their support for this year’s recipients.

“This is a wonderful organisation and I just feel we are privileged to actually be part of them, the work they do assists so many across the community and I really implore everyone to donate whenever they can, because every dollar counts, and every dollar will be used to assist someone in need”
