CLUB SPOTLIGHT: Yaroomba Boardriders Club

They might be just seven years young, however the Yaroomba Boardriders club certainly punch above their weight and the Sunshine Coast pocket rocket won’t just be on the Gold Coast to make up the numbers when the Usher Cup gets underway on January 19th.

Initially founded by a group of mates on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast with a love of the ocean and passion for surfing, the monthly surfs in honour of friend Chris Boyd who had sadly passed away, quickly became weekly and the decision was made to formalise the Yaroomba BRC.

Team Yaroomba have enjoyed terrific growth in numbers since those casual early days and now boast members from gromms, through to over sixties.

The annual “Boydy Cup” is still central to the club’s event calendar each year and draws competitors from across the Sunny Coast in a range of divisions.

Spoilt for choice with a selection of beach breaks that most surfers would die for, the Yaroomba BRC are also exposed to professional level coaching during their club training and development sessions with the development of the region’s youngest surfers a key focus for the Coasts youngest BRC.

Providing fun times and a healthy lifestyle, members and their families are strongly encouraged to participate in club activities, regardless of whether they surf or not.
